The FM Update

Last Updated: 12th February 1998
Watch this space for the latest news on Radio Victory's application for a full time FM licence in the Greater Portsmouth area.
January 1997 - A statement from Mark Samways, Station Manager.

At the start of any new year it's tempting to look back and assess the past twelve months, check the current position and become aspirational towards the year ahead. Sometimes this is in the form of fleeting thought and on other occaisions it's a deep, meaningful and potentially radical process.

Looking back on 1997, Radio Victory's Special Olympics FM was a major highlight. It was recognised by local listeners, competitors, those in the City Council and on the National & International committees of Special Olympics as an excellent service whose involvement, commitment and popularity lifted the profile of the games to an unprecedented high.

The high level of theatrical acclaim and ticket sales (it was a sellout) of the Victoryland Theatre School's production of the Wizard of Oz at the Kings Theatre, which we sponsored, was genuinely thrilling. Your continued support, comments and suggestions and suggestions helped the general consolidation and refinement of our radio programmes which mustn't be forgotten. November saw the launch of the Radio Victory Magazine broadening the opportunities for our advertisers with the provision of our complete multi-media promotion service. In December we moved to new premises.

This year will see many changes to the radio services available to you. Additional services, new stations and existing stations fighting to keep some share of the potential listening audience in this area. So reflections at the end of 1998 will be particularly interesting.

For us at Radio Victory, thoughts are for the future and the benefits that 1998 can bring to our area. This web site is just one of our new developments for this year but our main focusis winning the full time FM broadcast license to server this area.

The Radio Authority are invitin local comment and feeling about the type of radio service needed in this area and who should provide it. So please contact them at the following address and make your views known:
